Article: ST95 Garment Dyeing Process

ST95 Garment Dyeing Process

A process pioneered by Massimo Osti, ST95 founder, in the 1970’s - Garment dyeing, left the colouring of the fabric to the end of the manufacturing process. This remains an intrinsic part of ST95 to this day, the products shown here are all garment dyed.

Garment Dyeing makes the garment much more intense in colour and enhances the fabric, giving it a more lived in feeling. Although it had been used before, in ancient civilisations and through the ages, garment dyeing really was born in Italy in the early 1970s, thanks to the intuition of Massimo Osti. Never before had anyone applied garment dyeing to a finished product made up of different fabrics and fibres.

"I discovered that two different materials absorbed and reacted differently to the dye when dyed simultaneously, thereby creating interesting 'tone-on-tone' effects." Massimo Osti.

Osti, was obsessed with garment dyeing and constantly wanted to see the effects on different products, we continue this obsession today with a huge proportion of our range garment dyed.
